Who's Who In Paramus
Darcy remains relentless in her pursuit of new and different music, hoping one day to have the world's largest CD collection. This kid can't seem to get enough music and she keeps her No. 2 pencils sharpened at all times to take notes on what she learns. Darcy says, "I believe that everyone needs to have their own special themesong in life. It would be the song people would sing as you enter a room." So I started my own themesong writing business. Give me a song and I'll change the lyrics to say something special about YOU." We asked her how her business was going, and she replied, "Well, I found out I make people even happier when I tell them their special themesong is FREE!"
Darcy met Chris at a Sons & Daughters of Paramus Social Club dance, and it was love at first sight when they both reached out to pick a song from the jukebox. She loves music. He likes learning about good sound. She knew he was the one for her when he smiled and asked, "Hey Darcy, would 'ya like me to hook up your speakers?" "Oh yes I would!", was her reply. Somebody keep an eye on these two kids, huh?
Darcy says: "DO WHAT, NOW" has got it all!! It ranges from soulful to up tempo and then to traditional style blues.....And Jimmy can DO IT ALL!!! He can really rock the house on one cut and then switch to a nice simple blues on the next, as with "Stranger Blues." I really love "What Have I Done Wrong?" I think it's Jimmy's best vocal on this CD...especially when he sings that "Baaaaaaaay-beh!"
Cathy When she grows up, Cathy thinks she might be interested in devoting her time to researching and developing new chemical compounds which mimic the "blues-enhanced mood, but-not-to-be-confused-with-the-Viagra-mood" when listening to the JimmyMan.
Already showing an interest in the medical field, she someday hopes to write a book on B vitamins. "I'm gonna' call it 'Forget your B6's and B12's; There's Only One Real Vitamin B and That's Vitamin Blues," says LabBabe. Or maybe I'll call it: "Do What, Now? Vitamin Blues, The Secret to a Long Healthy Life."
Cathy has been heard saying to other Sons & Daughters of Paramus: "No matter what you do, no matter where you go, you've gotta' have an ace in the hole.....either that or a whole bunch of JimmyMan CDs!!!" Ah, that's a mighty "purdy" thought Lab of the Babe! Mighty purdy!!!
Mark was unanimously voted "Paramus Clown". He never stops teasing the Daughters of Paramus. He schemes to find ways to pull their hair or hit them with an unsuspected spitball when he sits in back of them in Blues Class. Mark has a reputation for cheating on music quizzes so don't be tempted to sit near him, even if he starts in with his jokes and flirting, tempting you with his fluffa-nutta sandwiches and offering to share his cans of peas with you!! It's all a setup to copy off your paper!
Mark has taken full advantage of Jimmy Vivino's popularity by setting up his own JOEY VINO SPINNING UMBRELLA CAP stand wherever he goes. "I'm making a fortune on these caps.", he says. "And it's a great way to meet chicks. Just tell them, 'I'm bluesified baaaaaybeh. Are you?' And learn at least 50 different ways to say BABY. The chicks dig it. But then they'll ask you to sing or play guitar for them. I can't do either so I deeply resent Jimmy Vivino for making guys like me look bad.
Mark's favorite quote? "Help me. I'm drowning in these VIVINO-FIED TORRENTS. Now can somebody pass me a cannoli?" Mark says: "I ask you is it fair that one guy has this much talent? His vocals are as good as his guitar playing. Go get his CD now. You won't be sorry."
Chris has already reached an important goal in his life, being the highly praised inventor of the VIVINOMETER. How proud his parents must be as they listen to him describe his invention:
"The VIVINOMETER attaches to your TV. It senses the acoustic signature of not only Jimmy's voice but his guitar as well, and it will initiate an automatic alarm. You and your family members can walk away from your television with peace of mind, knowing your trusted VIVINOMETER will signal you when the JimmyMan comes on your screen."
A lot of big words for such a young boy! He must be a real smarty! Apparently this was noticed by another Paramus member, who met Chris at a Paramus Club dance. They both walked over to the jukebox to pick a song. Their eyes met. They smiled. "Were you going to choose a Jimmy Vivino song?", asked Darcy. "Uh- no. jazzin' Jerry Vivino tune." "Well, I guess that's O.K." Darcy replied.
As the music played and they danced, Chris whispered in Darcy's ear, "That jukebox needs some modifications. For one thing, it needs a Vivino Level Indicator built into it's console." And look at how Darcy swooned! "Ah, what a dreamboat he is!!"
Chris says: "Jimmy Vivino is as good as they come! Go see him perform live and you'll be blown away by his talent."
Nikki Tikki enjoys working part time as an official Tour Guide at the Vivino Institute, so look for her there and say hello!! She'll be impressed if you wear nice SHOES!
Not being satisfied with the lack of attention that those people at Late Night With Conan O'Brien gives to the JimmyMan, Nikki Tikki set off on a campaign to force NBC executives into considering giving Jimmy more air time as well as having him appear as musical guest on Late Night again. If you listen carefully, you can probably hear her chanting, "GIVE US THE JIMMYMAN. BRING ON THE JIMMYMAN." Nikki Tikki felt like her life was complete when she could finally purchase her very own VIVINOMETER and could walk away from her TV knowing her VIVINOMETER would signal her when Jimmy comes on the screen.

Lorie Living by the motto- "Aren't we all Vivinos at heart?" Lorie enjoys many different types of music and never leaves home without wearing her Joey Vino spinning umbrella cap. Risking loss of life in thunderstorms, Lorie has been heard saying, "It's worth it. I'd do anything for Joey Vino." She wonders why her television screen is so blurry and doesn't realize it's from the rotten fruit she throws at it every night when Jimmy does not appear as musical guest on Conan.
Lorie says: "Do What, Now? is a CD that belongs in any blues collection. The songs have a wonderful, charismatic quality that makes you feel as if you know them from the first listen...yet you'll want to keep listening over and over again. I particularly like the opening bars on the first track--Bird's Nest on the Ground."
Chillngirl - Known as Little Miss Chillbell, Chillngirl has been known to scream at her television, "Oooh, JIMMYMAN! GIVE US THE JIMMY!" when the Max Weinberg 7 start to play. She thinks it's necessary to wear pajamas every time she listens to blues, from what she heard on the Soul Of A Man CD. The rest of the Sons & Daughters of Paramus keep telling her that's not what Al Kooper meant by "wearing pajamas" but she doesn't care. She keeps wearing those pajamas. From South Carolina, where the phrase "Do What Now?" is frequently used, ChillBell responds, "Do what now? Buy the Jimmyman's Do what now CD!" That's our ChillBell hard at work.
Linzi Known as Linzi McVino, Linzi set out to legally change her name to show her support of Joey Vino. She spreads the word about Joey Vino everywhere she goes in Scotland, taking the high roads and the low roads to reach the Jimmy-fied!
Her goal one day is to be an editor of an Late Night E-zine or a Joey Vino Web mistress so she can use more tools to reach people world wide and get them Jimmy-fied too.
Living so far away from Paramus Ms McVino found it difficult to find a copy of DO WHAT, NOW? even though she searched the high roads and the low roads too. Then one day a kind man from the Paramus School Of Blues stepped in and saved the day by sending her a copy. She was instantly Vinoized. Linzi's favorite tracks from Do What, Now? are Operator and Got To Move.
Kelly Little Kell can be found most nights in front of her TV screen at 12:35 a.m., eagerly waiting for a commercial break while watching Late Night With Conan O'Brien, hoping to hear Jimmy Vivino sing. "Swoon me Jimmy!" is her favorite phrase.
"I own TWO Vivino-meters. One I use every night and one I keep for a backup in case of emergencies!", says Kell. She tapes all the shows, hoping that after a few years she'll actually have one of her favorite songs Jimmy does in it's entirety!
Kelly hangs her head in shame as she admits, "I once thought of Jimmy as "that guitar player on Conan O'Brien's show." But she's a different person now, and recognizes him as JOEY VINO, the most talented guitar player in the universe.
Kelly's thought's on "Do What, Now?": "I love this CD! I never get tired of listening to it and I never switch tracks because I love listening to them all! I can't get enough of Jimmy's voice! My favorite track is Sugaree. That's my favorite for *THIS WEEK*."
Kelly hopes to pursue a career in fashion when she grows up, because she like to pouf hair and enjoys drawing ties with her burnt sienna and butterscotch crayons.
Gail considers herself Jimmy's biggest fan. She begged Darcy to write a song that would show her appreciation for Jimmy, and so Darcy quickly got started on the JOEY VINO SONG, which Gail loves since Johnny Angel has always been one of her favorite oldies!! (Go take a look!)
"His voice makes me swoon!" she says, smiling. "That's why I tape every show, and then stay up to make sure the VCR is working, and then by that time I start to watch the show, and that leads to me wondering what Jimmy will sing during the show so I sit up and watch it anyway!"
Gail was relieved to hear of the invention of the VIVINOMETER because now she can at least leave the room, knowing her trusted VIVINOMETER will signal her when Jimmy is heard or appears on the screen. Gail says, "Jimmy's many talents truly amaze me. Although it's hard to pick a favorite track I'll choose "Bird's Nest On The Ground."
Cindy loves blues and she says, "Oh baby, there ain't nobody better than the JimmyMan! He's the real thing. When I watch Conan O'Brien's show, I gotta' have him play and sing! So I shout, 'BRING ON ' DA JIMMY! GIVE US DA BLUZ! !"
Cindy complains she was born in the wrong generation because she loves 60's music. "Sometimes I wish I had been born earlier," she admits. "But then I'd be really old now. And that would be a real bummer."
Cindy's hobbies include making "BRING ON 'DA JIMMY" pins for her and her friends to wear because as she likes to remind everyone, "That Joey Vino can burn! 'Nuff said!" Cindy says: "My favorite track from Jimmy's DO WHAT NOW? CD is Albert King's I GET EVIL."
Paige Paige is a beginner to blues and her first blues CD was Jimmy Vivino's "Do What Now?" and she is enjoying learning about blues music with the rest of the Sons & Daughters of Paramus.
Paige knows she will be tall when she grows up and hopes one day to meet a very tall Son of Paramus at a Ferry who will meet her carrying cans of peas and fluffa-nutta sandwiches. They will fall in love, get married, and live bluesifyingly happily ever after.
Allison Allison (nee Allison) was born in Brooklyn, lives in Brooklyn and will die in Brooklyn. At a very young age she began extensively studying the ancient martial art of Poul Tree under the leadership of world-renowned master Frank Perdue. Aside from running her Bodyguarding business (call now and receive a free pocket size Cornish game hen! Perfect for protection against the meanest perps! That's 1-800-TURKEY PRO), she is also a struggling actress, with such films to her credit as TOUCH MY CANNOLI AND DIE!! and BUBBA, THE BLUES SINGIN' BEAR (Voice of Francis done by Jimmy Vivino......and I'll tell you, that's one messed up bear!). She aspires to one day live in the Yankee locker room with her ferret, Numnuts. She would like to thank Paige for making her unemployed and lonely.
Jeff The Sons & Daughters of Paramus take pride in recruiting Jeff, who was not a Late Night viewer and had never been Jimmyfied before.
Jeff says, "I think the Sons & Daughters of Paramus liked me right from the start because I love blues and I have a large collection of blues CDs."
The Daughters of Paramus disagree, and say, "No, what impressed us the most about Jeff was how he looked in his MOHAIR TIE and the fact that he brings his now-famous mushroom cookies to blues class once a week for us all to munch on!! Yum!!"
Jeff is also responsible for naming the Spinning Umbrella Cap the "SUP" for short, and when we asked what he has learned by being a Son of Paramus he replied, "WHOA NELLIE! Never leave home without your SUP and your mosquito repellant!"
Kevin is the newest Son of Paramus to be Jimmyfied and the rest of the Sons & Daughters are very happy he has joined their group.
For such a young boy, he sure does know a lot about blues music and blues history and he is well known for his interesting Blues Festivals Reviews.
Listen to what Kevin says about blues: "To me, blues is stuff by people like Sonny Boy Williamson and Howlin' Wolf and Albert King. I like the older stuff the most but I also like electric blues and soul blues. Some of the young ones that I like are Keb Mo and Corey Harris. I could go on forever about the blues, but I guess that you could say that it touches me and I feel a connection to the music."
When Kevin joined our group and bought Jimmy's "DO WHAT NOW?" CD, he told us, "I like the fact that Jimmy's CD isn't just another one of those dadgum rock blues that everybody and their brother/sister is putting out these days. There is integrity to his music, instead of the bombast that is so prevalent in recent blues releases."
"Is this the way my SUP (Spinning Umbrella Cap) is supposed to look?", Kevin asks as he models it for us. Kell tells him, "Oh no! Don't plop it on your head that way, but just tilt it a little. YEAH! Much better! You look very dashing and tres tres fabbbuuu now!"
We hope Kevin will love letting his umbrella SPIN SPIN SPIN as much as we like having him as a new Son!
Vince (or as we like to call him Vincent Van Where-Did-He-Go) is our newest Son of Paramus. Vince's claim to fame is that he is 100 percent Italian, and figured we would HAVE to accept him as a Son, since he keeps us well stocked with the best cannolis! Vince loves blues almost as much as he loves rescuing stranded turtles. Vince says, "Did you know that all turtles love blues music? It's a known fact. Play blues for the next turtle you meet. You'll see the reaction you get!!" We welcome Vince to Paramus, and would you please pass us some more cannolis?
