The Fab Faux gig was amazing. Although all of the Fab Faux shows have been great, I think this one was the best. All of the musicians were in peak form and the sound mix was also great, although (as usual) much too loud. The Bowery Ballroom was packed, but this was probably due in part to the fact that they had to cancel the Tuesday night shows because the BB needed the room for the CMJ music festival.
For the first time, they included songs from John Lennon's solo career, in celebration of his birthday. I especially liked Jealous Guy, which has an incredibly beautiful melody, Imagine, which was very appropriate for these times and What You Got, which I was less familiar with, although I must have it on an album somewhere. It sounded to me like it could have been recorded by James Brown and you usually don't associate any of the Beatles with writing songs that would be appropriate for James Brown. One of the other highlights of the night was Jimmy's guitar solo on Yer' Blues.

For those who care about these things, Jimmy was dressed in psychedelic early Young Rascals garb. He wore an oversized beret, a purple-ish (hard to tell under the colored lights) oversized shirt, not tucked in, patterned with inkblots as well as a purple velvet vest.
Jerry Vivino was part of the horn section and was dressed totally in black, as was all the members of the "Hogshead Horns", which also included Lew Soloff and either Tom Malone or Lou Marini (I forget which) as well as one other player.
If you care about Jimmy as a musician or if you just care about great music, you have got to see this show. They'll be back Dec 18 and 19th when they'll perform the entire White Album.
